DALLAS -- Phil Mickelson, who has played in 10 straight Byron Nelson Championship tournaments, withdrew from this week's stop because he's tired from a busy schedule following his Masters win.
Mickelson informed tournament organizers on Monday that he wouldn't play. He had committed to the event in April.
He will instead retool his planning for the U.S. Open, which begins on June 15 at Winged Foot G.C. in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
"This is in no way a reflection on the tournament, which is one of my favorites on tour," Mickelson said after finishing tied for 35th Sunday at the Wachovia Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
He also played a week ago in New Orleans. He will skip next week's Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, as well.
He plans to return to the PGA Tour for The Memorial on June 1-4. He will then play the Barclays Classic at Westchester, followed by the U.S. Open.
Mickelson is currently the leading money winner on the PGA Tour with $3,237,992.
